BINGHAMTON, N.Y.
– Senior Shane Winslow (Portsmouth,
N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University golf team fired a
two-under-par 70 to take medalist honors at the Le Moyne College
Mike Bello Invitational Wednesday at En-Joie Golf Club. As a
team, the Penmen finished second in the eight-team field, four
strokes behind tourney winner American International College with a
311.
For Winslow, it marks the third
time this season he has captured medalist honors. He was the
individual champion at the Northeast-10 Championship in October,
then followed that up by winning the SNHU Penmen Invitational one
week later. His 70 marks is tied for the fifth-lowest single
round score in program history, and the lowest since Adam
Goinsalvos fired a 70 in 2005.
D.J. Lantz (New
London, N.H.) gave Southern New Hampshire the top two spots with
his round of 73, which placed him alone in second.
Jeff Atkinson (Lancaster, N.H.) finished
16th with his score of 80, while Matt
Reims (Cheshire, Conn.) (88) and Nick
Ricci (Andover, Mass.) (90) rounded out the Penmen
finishers.
SNHU is slated to return to action
this weekend when it competes at the UMass Lowell River Hawk
Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Meadow Creek Golf Club in
Dracut, Mass.
