MANCHESTER, N.H.
– Mike Iorio scored three times to lead Adelphi
University to an 11-6 Northeast-10 men's lacrosse win over
Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon at Larkin
Field. The Panthers moved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the
NE-10, while the Penmen are now 4-7 and 2-5 in the league.
Jonathan Baron scored twice for
Adelphi, while Danny Blau totaled a goal and four assists.
Michael Rossi registered a goal and an assist, while Kevin Kemp,
Connor McCann, Chris Aiello and Kevin Kennedy each finished with
single tallies.
Greg Reynolds
(Scituate, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire with two goals and an
assist, while Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, Mass.)
and Andrew Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) added two
goals apiece.
Southern New Hampshire trailed 7-4
at halftime, but scored the first two goals of the third quarter
and a Merluzzo goal with 11:34 left in the third made it 7-6.
Adelphi would score twice and a Iorio man-up goal with 1:25 left
gave the Panthers a 9-6 lead after three quarters. AU would
score twice in the fourth and hold the Penmen scoreless for the
11-6 final.
Adelphi jumped out to a 3-0 lead,
but Reynolds would get the Penmen on the board with 3:34 remaining
in the first quarter. SNHU would score twice in the final
minute and a Reynolds goal with 28 seconds to go made it 3-3.
The Panthers scored the first four goals of the second quarter to
build a 7-3 lead. The Penmen would make it 7-4 with 4:43 left
when Brown scored on an assist from Alex Whitney
(North Hampton, N.H.).
Devin Schneiderbauer made 15 saves
in goal for Adelphi as Southern New Hampshire outshot the Panthers
39-29. Eric Gunst (Exeter, N.H.) made 10
saves for the Penmen. Adelphi was 3-8 with the man advantage,
while SNHU was just 1-7.
Southern New Hampshire closes out
its home schedule Tuesday when it hosts No. 10 Merrimack College in
a 7:00 contest at Larkin Field.
