GAME 1 BOX SCORE     GAME 2 BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University and Adelphi University halved a Northeast-10 softball doubleheader Monday afternoon at Penmen Field.  The Penmen posted a 2-1 win in the opener, before the Panthers blanked the home team 4-0 in game two.  SNHU is now 13-15 overall and 10-8 in the NE-10, while Adelphi is 21-17 and 9-9 in the league.

In the opener, all three runs came via the home run.  Kelsea Cheney (Abington, Mass.) gave the Penmen a 1-0 lead when she smacked a solo shot to left in the second.  Amanda Dolan tied the game for Adelphi with her two out solo shot to center in the fourth.  Cristy Jenkins (Hudson, Mass.) led off the bottom of the fourth with her home run to left that closed out the scoring.

Kelsey Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) earned the win for Southern New Hampshire, allowing four hits and registering five strikeouts without walking a batter.  Leighann Bell was the hard-luck loser for Adelphi, scattering six hits while fanning two.  Jenkins paced SNHU with a pair of hits while Shay Craig had two hits for Adelphi.

In the nightcap, Adelphi took a 1-0 lead on the game's first batter when Rochelle Noren hit a solo home run to left center.  The Panthers tacked on a run in the fourth when Dolan worked a leadoff walk and pinch-runner Jacqueline Bellairs scored on a single by Heather Salerno.

The Panthers tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth.  Amy Ogden singled to lead off the frame and scored when Christine Robinson reached on a fielders' choice.  Robinson would eventually score on a single by Emily Dorko.

SNHU's best chance to get on the board came in the second when Cheney and Andrea Clausi (Kingston, N.Y.) reached on back-to-back one out singles.  The Penmen would load the bases when Jessica Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) worked a two-out walk, but Kate Stanley (Kingston, Mass.) popped out to end the threat.

Robinson recorded the complete-game shutout for Adelphi, scattering six hits and fanning five.  Jen Garloff (Lebanon, Pa.) worked the first two innings for SNHU and allowed two hits and one run to take the loss.  Griffin went the final five innings and surrendered three hits and a pair of earned runs while fanning five.  Cheney had two hits for Southern New Hampshire in the nightcap.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a 3:00 doubleheader.
