WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
– Junior D.J. Lantz (New London,
N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University golf team captured
medalist honors at American International College's Yellow
Jacket Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Springfield Country
Club. As a team, the Penmen finished in a seventh-place tie
out of 10 teams.
Lantz, who captured medalist honors
for the first time in his career, led the field with a 71 after day
one and fired a 74 on Tuesday for a 145, four strokes better than
Kevin Daniels of AIC.
Shane Winslow
(Portsmouth, N.H.) was the next-highest SNHU finisher, as he tied
for 18th with a two-day total of 159. Matt
Reims (Cheshire, Conn.) finished tied for 38th
with a two-day total of 169, while Jeff Atkinson
(Lancaster, N.H.) was 46th with his 175.
Nick Ricci (Andover, Mass.) finished with a
two-day score of 182 to place 48th.
Tuesday's tournament wraps up
the regular season for SNHU. The Penmen were ranked No. 10 in
the most recent East Region ranking and will await word of a
possible NCAA regional berth. That field will be announced
later this week.
