SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The Southern New Hampshire
University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday
afternoon at Le Moyne College, defeating Bloomfield College 3-0
before falling to the host Dolphins 3-0 on Saturday
afternoon. With the split, the Penmen now stand at 3-1
overall, while Bloomfield falls to 0-3 and Le Moyne betters
themselves to 4-3 on the season.
In the first match of the double feature, Stephanie
Dluginski (Floral Park, N.Y.) totaled a game-high 17
kills and hit at .708 on the day. Lauren
Lorenz (Frankfort, Ill.) recorded a season-high 30
assists, and Erica
Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) added 20 digs.
Nicole
Matte (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Peyton
Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) each tallied six
kills. The Penmen hit an impressive .405 in the opening match while
holding Bloomfield to a negative attack. Game scores were
25-18, 25-8, and 25-12.
In the second match of the afternoon, the Penmen suffered
the first loss of the season by scores of 19-25, 22-25, and
16-25. Dluginski led the Penmen with 13 kills, and Lorenz
dished out 19 assists. Le Moyne was led by Allison Habel, who
totaled 10 kills and 11 digs for the Dolphins. Bethany Fabian
added 11 kills, and Katie Plukas finished with a game-high 33
assists.
After recording 30 kills on the afternoon, Dluginski has moved
into third-place on the Southern New Hampshire career kills leader
board with 847 total kills.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Thursday, September
16, traveling to Assumption College for a 7:00 p.m.
