PHILADELPHIA – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team kicked off its first-ever appearance at the USTA/ITA East Regional on Saturday.

In the A singles draw, Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) won his first round match, defeating Alvaro Vargas of University of the Sciences 6-3, 2-6 (10-8).  He will face Ricardo Frey of Concordia in Sunday's second round.  Mitchell Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) fell in the first round to top-seeded Andrey Boldarev of Concordia 6-2, 6-0.

In A doubles action, Arango-Campo and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) fell in the first round 8-3.  In B doubles action, Dobek and Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) were 8-4 winners in the first round before falling 9-8 (4) in the second round.
