MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University volleyball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference match to the visiting River Hawks of UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in NE-10 Conference play, while the win boosts the River Hawks to 5-3 and 2-1 in league play.
The Penmen won the first game 19-25, before dropping the next three games by scores of 25-13, 25-8, and 31-29.
Danielle Coffey (Westborough, Mass.) led the Penmen 14 kills, while Erica Solomon (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) and Ashlee Daoust (Brookline, N.H.) both finished with seven kills each. Emily Winters (Kingston, Ontario) posted 28 assists on the afternoon. Megan Lesczynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and Peyton Williams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) each posted 18 digs for the Penmen.
Lea Freeman led the River Hawks with 18 kills and five blocks. Teammate Kristina Wiltjer posted a match-best 29 assists, and Brooke Peterson led the River Hawks with 17 digs. Carolyn Eddy tallied three service aces for UMass Lowell.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Saint Michael's College for a 7:00 p.m. match.
