GUILDERLAND, N.Y.
– The Southern New Hampshire University golf team finished
fifth out of 10 schools at the Saint Rose Fall Shootout Friday and
Saturday at Pinehaven Country Club. The Penmen posted a team
score of 326 on Friday, then posted the second-largest improvement
in the tournament by carding a 313 on Saturday. SNHU finished
22 strokes behind tournament champion Concordia (N.Y.) College.
Junior Nick Burke
(Sandwich, Mass.) led the Penmen with his 11th place
showing. He tied for the second-lowest score of day two with
a 74 and posted a two-day total of 159. Ernie
Lupi (Bradford, Mass.) sat second following an
opening-round 75 and finished one stroke behind Burke to place tied
for 14th, while Vince Kimball's
(Lebanon, N.H.) 161 comprised of an 81 and an 80 placed him tied
for 17th.
Scott Underhill
(Bedford, N.H.) lowered his round by six strokes Saturday with a 79
and notched a two-day total of 164, while Cody
Carlson (Wellesley, Mass.) shot an 80 on day two to
finished with a score of 167.
The SNHU golf team returns to
action October 20-21 when it competes in the AIC-Adelphi
Intercollegiate Classic at Connecticut National Golf Course.
