HANOVER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team captured a pair of singles matches as it fell to Division I Stony Brook University 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center. The Penmen are now 4-2 on the season, while the Seawolves evened their record at 1-1 overall.
The Penmen grabbed victories at first and second singles. Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) was a 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 winner over Nikita Formin at No. 1, while Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) was a 6-2, 7-5 winner over Francis Bertrand at No. 2.
In doubles play, Arango-Campo and Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.) fell in a tiebreaker at No. 1 to Formin and Bertrand 8-7 (7-5), while at second doubles, Dobek and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) dropped an 8-5 decision to Roope Kailaheimo and Robert Forai.
SNHU is now idle until March 3 when it kicks off a four-match Florida swing at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
