OCEAN CITY, Md.
– The Southern New Hampshire University golf team opened its
spring season at the Saint Thomas Aquinas College Spring
Invitational held at Rum Point Seaside Golf Links this weekend,
placing 11th out of 14 teams with a two-day score of
632. The Penmen posted a 322 on Saturday, then lowered their
score 12 strokes with a 310 on Sunday.
Nick Burke
(Sandwich, Mass.) led the Penmen with a score of 155 to finish tied
for 21st out of 70 competitors. He carded a 77 on
Saturday and a 78 on Sunday. Vince Kimball
(Lebanon, N.H.) posted a 76 on Sunday and finished with a two-day
total of 157, while James Hickey (Manchester,
N.H.) also totaled 76 on Sunday and finished at 159 for the
tournament.
Cody Carlson
(Wellesley, Mass.) finished with a two-day score of 162, while
Ernie Lupi (Bradford, Mass.) rounded out the
Penmen finishers with a 164, firing consecutive 82s.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action next weekend when it competes at the Peter King Memorial at
Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, N.Y.
