MANCHESTER, N.H.—Geoff Kennedy scored four goals to lead the No. 11 Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team to a 9-3 win in Northeast-10 Conference action over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday evening at Larkin Field. With the loss, the Penmen fall to 0-5 on the season and 0-3 in NE-10 action, while the visiting Hawks improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.
In addition to Kennedy's four goals, the Hawks were led by Ryan Mee and Tyler Steinetz, who tallied two goals apiece.
John Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.) led the Penmen with two goals, while Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, Mass.) finished with one.
The Penmen took an early 1-0 lead as Cuozzo scored five minutes into the game on an assist by Will Vallette (Topsfield, Mass.). Tyler Steinetz would even the score at 1-1 with 7:52 to play in the first quarter on an unassisted play. Cuozzo would score again at the 5:09 mark to give the Penmen the 2-1 advantage, but the Hawks would tally the next six goals of the game to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.
SNHU tallied the lone goal of the third quarter as Buckley notched the Penmen's first man-down goal of the season. Saint Anselm would round out the game with two goals in the fourth quarter to clinch the 9-3 victory.
Brendan O'Brien (Hopkinton, Mass.) took the loss in net and totaled nine saves. Jonathon O'Reilly earned the win for and recorded 12 saves.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, March 31 when it hosts American International College at 1:00 p.m. in Northeast-10 Conference action.
