COMPLETE NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE

SOUTH EASTON, Mass.—Freshman Ali Maloof (Norwood, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University softball team has been named this week's Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Maloof batted .800 in the first two games the 2012 season, starting in the designated player spot against Georgian Court and connecting for a double in her first collegiate-at bat.  Maloof batted 3-4 in the first game and scored a run.  Against Wayne State in Sunday's nightcap, she batted 1-1 at the plate while walking twice.  She also earned the nod in the circle and pitched five full innings, scattering five hits and one earned run while fanning three.

The Penmen are halfway through a 10-game stretch at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.  SNHU has posted regional wins against Wilmington (Del.) and Concordia (N.Y.), and currently sit at 2-3 overall.
