CLERMONT, Fla.—The Southern New Hampshire University softball team extended their win streak to four games today by sweeping a doubleheader in day three of action at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.  The Penmen opened the day with a 4-0 shutout win against West Virginia Wesleyan and concluded the day with a 7-2 in against Wayne State (Neb.), snapping Wayne State's 8-0 start to the season.  West Virginia Wesleyan falls to 8-4 on the season, while the Penmen improve to 5-3 with today's wins.

The Penmen took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second as Tesia Stanasek (Blackstone, Mass.) and Kelsea Cheney (Abington, Mass.) led off the inning with back-to-back singles.  Stanasek would score on a single by Kate Stanley (Kingston, Mass.), and Amanda Barton (Franklin, N.H.) would single to score Cheney.

The Penmen would extend the lead to 4-0 in the top of the third, as Cristy Jenkins (Hudson, Mass.) led off with a single and was hit home on a double by Cara Daly (Plainville, Mass.).  Daly would score on a single by Cheney.

Ali Maloof (Norwood, Mass.) pitched a two-hitter in her first collegiate shutout and struck out seven batters while walking four.

Maloof also earned the decision in the nightcap against Wayne State, entering the game in relief in the second inning and scattering three hits while giving up just one run and striking out three. Dolores Mattice (Schenectady, N.Y.) got the start in the circle and scattered two hits and one run in the first inning.

Wayne State would own a 2-0 lead after 2.5 innings of play, but the Penmen would respond with seven unanswered runs, including four in the bottom of the sixth inning, to hand Wayne State its first loss of the season.  Maloof led the Penmen at the plate with three hits and one RBI, while Jessica Douillette (Concord, N.H.), Nicole Newell (Abington, Mass.) and Barton each contributed two hits apiece.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action tomorrow for its last day of action at the National Training Center and will face regional opponents Wilmington (Del.) and Post at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
