VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team downed the third-ranked Warriors of Merrimack College on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.  With the win, the Penmen improve to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in the NE-10, while the Warrior suffer their second defeat of the season, falling to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Today's win marks the first victory for the Penmen against Merrimack since April 22, 2004, when SNHU notched a 16-11 win.

Rob Murray (Marblehead, Mass.) led the Penmen offensively with three goals.  Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, Mass.), John Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.) and Will Vallette (Topsfield, Mass.) all finished with a goal and an assist, while James Sabino (Danvers, Mass.) finished with a single goal and Kevin Goodfellow (Wayland, Mass.) added an assist.

Merrimack was led by DJ Brown, who finished with two goals, and Mike Perdie, who totaled a goal and an assist.

The Penmen would take an early 3-0 lead after one quarter of play on goals by Sabino, Vallette, and Cuozzo.   A goal by Murray with 13:12 remaining in the second quarter would extend the Penmen lead to 4-0, but the Warriors would respond with four-straight goals by Brown, Kyle Guilbert, Perdie, and Greg Fallon to even the score at 4-4 entering halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, SNHU would start the final quarter with three-straight goals, as Buckley scored a man-up goal with 13:36 to play and Murray tallied two goals at 13:07 and 9:51 to give the Penmen the 7-4 lead.

Merrimack's Corey Lunney would make the score 7-5 on an unassisted goal with 9:10 to play.  The Penmen defense would silence Merrimack scoring until Brown notched his second goal of the game with 12 seconds remaining.

Defenders Corey Hamilton (Tewksbury, Mass.), Matthew Langill (Billerica, Mass.) and Ryan Woodford (Scituate, Mass.) all finished with three caused turnovers apiece, while Woodford led the Penmen in ground balls with five and Langill finished with four.

Goaltender Brendan O'Brien (Hopkinton, Mass.) totaled 12 saves in net for the Penmen en route to the win.   Morgan Green took the loss in net for the Warriors and totaled six saves.  Merrimack outshot SNHU 48-19 on the afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday when they host their second ranked opponent of the week.  The Penmen will entertain No. 6 Adelphi at 1:00 p.m.
