– Led by a third-place finish by junior Scott
Underhill (Bedford, N.H.), the Southern New Hampshire
University golf team finished third out of eight schools at the
Franklin Pierce Division II Invitational at Bretwood Country Club
Sunday and Monday. The Penmen held the lead after day one
after shooting a 293, then carded a 315 on Monday to place seven
strokes behind tourney champion American International College.
Underhill carded a three-under 69
on Sunday and a 77 on Monday to finish four strokes back of
AIC's Ramon Ventura for medalist honors. His 69 on
Sunday is the lowest round carded by a SNHU golfer since Jeff
Sullivan's 67 at the 2003 Northeast-10 Championship.
Junior Nick Burke
(Sandwich, Mass.) finished in a tie for fifth place with a two-day
score of 148, carding an even-par 72 on Sunday and a 76
Monday. Cody Carlson (Wellesley, Mass.)
followed his opening-round 72 with an 80 on Monday.
Jeff Atkinson (Lancaster, N.H.) (80-82-162) and
Vince Kimball (Lebanon, N.H.) (81-87-168) rounded
out the Penmen finishers.
Southern New Hampshire is idle
until September 24-25 when it hosts the SNHU Penmen Invitational at
Canterbury Woods Country Club in Canterbury, N.H.
