MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team defeated Saint Anselm by a score of 7-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday. The Penmen improve to 3-0 while the Hawks are now 1-2.

SNHU's No. 1 single Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) took the first singles match with a score of 6-0 and 6-2 over Saint Anselm Chris Schwab. Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) played in the second singles position while capturing a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hawk Nick Schwab. The third singles match would go into a tiebreaker set, but Penmen Jared Wright (Norwell, Mass.) would pull through to earn the victory with scores of 3-6, 7-5, and 10-4. The only Penmen singles loss would come from a 5-7, 6-0, and 10-12 tiebreaker effort from Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.) in the sixth position.

The No. 1 and No. 2 double pairs would prevail with 8-2 and 8-4 wins for the Penmen. But the Penmen would lose in the third doubles spot when Michael Hanna and Joseph Zucchi would take the game with an 8-4 victory over Penmen Tim Hamilton (Hampton, N.H.) and Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.).

The Penmen return to action Friday, September 21 when they travel to play Philadelphia for a non-conference 12:00 p.m. match. The Penmen continue play during the weekend at the ITA East Regionals on September 22 through September 24.
