NSCAA POLL
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team will enter NCAA tournament play as the nation's top-ranked team, as the Penmen are tied for first with Lindenwood University at No. 1 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Division II national poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Penmen moved up nine spots from No. 10 in last week's poll as eight of the top 10 teams lost last week.
Southern New Hampshire enters the NCAA Championship winners of 18 straight after capturing the program's second straight Northeast-10 tournament championship with a 1-0 win over Merrimack College on Sunday. At 18-1 overall, the Penmen rank first in Division II in winning percentage (.947) and also rank first nationally in team goals against average (0.42) and 10th nationally in offense, averaging 2.68 goals per game.
The Penmen have qualified for NCAA play for the sixth straight year, the nation's longest active streak, and will host regional play for the fifth time in six seasons. SNHU has received a first-round bye and will play a second round game on Saturday, November 16 against the winner of Thursday's game between third-seeded Post University and sixth-seeded Wilmington (Del.) University at 1:00. The Post-Wilmington game will be played at SNHU's Larkin Field on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
