KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team was defeated by Wayne State (Mich.) Thursday morning by a score of 6-3. With the loss, the Penmen are now 7-2 overall, while Wayne State improves to 3-2.
The Penmen would fall to the Warriors in four out of six singles matches as well as win just one doubles match.
Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) would battle to defeat Aman Gil and Melvin Joseph in No. 1 doubles play by a score of 8-3. However, Southern New Hampshire would fall 8-4 in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles play.
In singles play, Dobek would defeat Gill by scores of 6-2, 7-6, and 7-5 in a tiebreaker set at the number one singles spot, and Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia) would earn another point for the Penmen in No. 2 singles play when he defeated Mohamed Fazil Kechai. The Warriors would defeat the Penmen in the next four matches to earn the win.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, March 8 when they travel to the District of Columbia for a 12:00 p.m. match.
