SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Six members of the Southern New Hampshire men's tennis team (12-7, 7-2) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Tennis All-Conference teams as announced by league offices Tuesday morning. Also, head coach Greg Coache, who was honored earlier in the week as the Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, was named the Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
In his sixth year at Southern New Hampshire, the award marks the fifth time Coache has been honored by the league for Coach of the Year, and the second time the coach has been honored as Coach of the Year by both programs in the same year. Coache led the team to a 12-7 overall record including a 7-2 record in the conference to tie for second place. Coache has led the team to its third consecutive berth in the NE-10 Championship as well as back-to-back NCAA appearances.
Juan Arango-Campo (Armenia Quindio, Colombia), Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) all received singles and doubles accolades, while Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.), Alex Mukdaprakorn (Hartford, Conn.), and Tim Hamilton (Bedford, N.H.) were honored as doubles players.
Arango-Campo was named to the First-Team Singles as the No. 2 player. The junior, who played the majority of the season at No. 2 singles, wrapped up the regular season with a 14-3 overall singles record. Dobek and Wallace were both named to the Second-Team Singles. Dobek, who played first singles all year, earned the No. 1 spot on the team, while Wallace was chosen as No. 3. Dobek posted a 14-5 overall record, while Wallace was 14-4 on the season.
The Penmen swept the Third-Team Doubles with the first, second, and third selections. First was the duo of Dobek and Wallace who combined for a 14-3 record as a team at No. 1 doubles. Individually, Dobek finished 16-4 on the season, while Wallace marked a 15-3 record.
Arango-Campo and Eaton received honors as the No. 2 team after recording a 6-2 record as a pair. Arango-Campo totaled 11 wins in doubles play while being defeated just six times, and Eaton earned a 10-8 record for SNHU.
Mukdaprakorn and Hamilton rounded out the Third-Team at the No. 3 spot. The two paired up for a 2-3 record during regular season play, while individually, Mukdaprakorn notched a 2-5 record, while Hamilton was 7-9 on the season.
The Penmen wrapped up regular season play last week while ending in a tie for second-place. By virtue of a tiebreaker, Southern New Hampshire was awarded the third seed in the upcoming conference championship and they will host American Int'l in a first round match Wednesday afternoon.
