Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire men's lacrosse team was defeated by a score of 14-12 to Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference play Wednesday evening. The Penmen are now 5-8 overall and 5-4 in the league, while the Falcons are 3-7 and 3-6 in conference play.
Southern New Hampshire took an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter after Rob Murray (Marblehead, Mass.) and Cameron Joyce (Braintree, Mass.) scored back-to-back goals. However, three consecutive Falcon's goals quickly took the lead from SNHU.
In the second frame, Bentley built on its lead with two more goals, but Phil LaTorre (Londonderry, N.H.) and John Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.) answered with two SNHU goals to cut the deficit to two. Two more Bentley goals ended the half with a 7-4 score in the Falcons favor.
After the break, Southern New Hampshire cut the Bentley lead back to two goals after Cuozzo and Murray scored their second tallies of the game. The teams traded goals in the last five minutes of the quarter with Murray scoring his third of the game, and the Penmen trailed Bentley 11-7 heading into the final quarter.
Despite outscoring the Falcons in the final frame, the Penmen could not get over the two goal lead. Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, Mass.), Taylor Warden (Concord, N.H.), Corey Allen (Suffield, Conn.), and PJ D'Amario (Springfield, Mass.) all recorded scores in the fourth to outscore Bentley 5-3.
Crosby Nicholson (Andover, Mass.) was credited with the loss in net for the Penmen while making nine saves, and Jarrod Dillon earned the win in goal for Bentley with nine saves as well.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, April 20 when they host Le Moyne for their last regular season home game at Larkin Field set for 1:00 p.m.
