THE MATCHUP: Southern New Hampshire hosts Franklin Pierce University Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference play at 7:00 p.m. on Larkin Field.
THE COACHES: Paul Calkins is in his 25th year as head coach. A former two-sport athlete at SNHU, he led the Penmen to a 7-4 record in his rookie season and followed up with an 8-3 campaign in 1990. The eight wins tied the school record for most victories in a season. Calkins lettered in lacrosse and hockey while a student at SNHU and totaled eight goals and 16 assists for the 1984 lacrosse team that finished 5-5. Rick Senatore came to Franklin Pierce in 2010. In his first season, he set a then-program record for overall and conference wins in a single season. Senatore came to Franklin Pierce following three years at fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Saint Anselm College. He turned around a program which posted a 3-11 record the year prior to his arrival into a program which earned NE-10 Tournament bids in each of his three seasons, including a semifinal appearance in 2009.
THE SERIES: Southern New Hampshire is 14-1 all-time against the Ravens while losing for the first time in the series last season by a score of 8-4 on the road at Franklin Pierce.
THE PENMEN: SNHU is coming off a loss at Merrimack Saturday...the Penmen are led by Cameron Joyce and Rob Murray who have each totaled 23 points...Joyce leads the team in goals with 19, while Murray has compiled 16 goals and seven assists...Corey Allen has also contributed 16 goals on the season, and Phil LaTorre adds 15 points to the offense with nine goals and six assists...Morgan Weireter has seen action in eight games while making five starts in goal...the junior has 65 saves on the season and a 10.32 goals against average.
THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce is coming off a 9-7 win over Saint Anselm Saturday...Kevin Dargin leads the squad with 18 goals and seven assists for a team-best 25 points...Erik Kelly and Casey Burnett have each totaled 20 points for the Ravens, and Eric Harries has a team-best 10 assists for 16 points...Don Denman has started eight games in net for Franklin Pierce while totaling 113 saves for a 10.46 goals against average.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Penmen return to action on Saturday, April 13 when they travel to Saint Rose for a 5:00 p.m. league matchup.
