GUILDERLAND, N.Y. - Led by medalist Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.), the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished first out of 12 schools at the Saint Rose Fall Shootout hosted at Pinehaven Country Club Friday and Saturday. The Penmen posted a 304 on Saturday for a two-day total of 607.
Franklin Pierce (612), Saint Rose (613), Le Moyne (615) and Dowling (625) rounded out the top five.
Nutter finished first for the third time in four tournaments this season, carding his second straight two-over 73 to finish at 146 for the tournament. He edged teammate John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) by one shot, as Clancy followed up his opening-round leading 72 with a 75 on Saturday. Austin Fox (Hooksett, N.H.), Friday's co-leader with Clancy, finished tied for 10th with a score of 152.
Scott Underhill (Bedford, N.H.) posted a 76 on Saturday to finish at 162 for the tournament, tied for 33rd. Ernie Lupi (Bradford, Mass.) posted an 88 in round two to round out the Penmen finishers.
The SNHU men's golf team returns to action next weekend (October 18-19) when it travels to the ECC Preview at Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point, N.Y.
