MANCHESTER, N.H. – Le Moyne College edged Southern New Hampshire University 5-4 in Northeast-10 men's tennis action Saturday evening at the SNHU courts. The Dolphins remained unbeaten at 4-0 and 3-0 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 1-1 overall and in the league.
The guests took a 2-1 lead after doubles, with Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) and Mark Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) picking up the Penmen point with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Reichentahl, Emerson Kelby (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Peter Wylie (Cedar Grove, N.J.) were all winners. Kelby prevailed in a three-set affair at No. 2 by a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 score, while Wylie also needed three sets to win at No. 3 by a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 count. Reichentahl was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 6.
Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.) dropped a three-set decision to Le Moyne's Stephane Legris, winning the first set 6-3 before falling 6-0, 6-2 over the final two sets. Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) dropped a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 decision at No. 1.
Southern New Hampshire closes out the fall season Friday when it hosts Franklin Pierce University in a 3:00 match.
