BREWSTER, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team closed out the fall season with a second place finish out of eight Division II teams at the annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship held Sunday and Monday at The Captains Golf Course. Overall, the Penmen were seventh out of 36 schools from Division I, II and III institutions.
The Penmen finished at 614 over two days, six strokes behind Bentley University among Division II schools. Southern New Hampshire recorded a 304 on Monday, low score among the eight Division II participants.
Junior Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.) finished second among Division II players with a two-day score of 151, firing a 74 on Monday after shooting 77 in Sunday's opening round. He was one of three SNHU players in the top 10. Sophomore John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) went 77-76-153 to finish fourth, while Austin Fox (Hooksett, N.H.) finished tied for eighth with a two-day score of 155.
Scott Underhill (Bedford, N.H.) posted an opening-round 78 and finished at 158 to tie for 13th overall, while Ernie Lupi (Bradford, Mass.) shot a season-best 77 Monday to move into a tie for 23rd among Division II players at 163.
