THE PENMEN: Southern New Hampshire was edged by No. 4/10 Stonehill on Saturday...the Penmen are led by graduate student Victoria Wiseman, who leads the Penmen with 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game off the bench...she is shooting 48.6% from the floor and is shooting 50% from behind the arc...senior Brooke Springfield owns a 8.4 ppg mark while dishing out 2.2 assists per game, good for most on the Penmen squad...junior Erin Doherty is averaging 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game...freshman Catherine Stinson has knocked down a team-best 12 three-pointers and is scoring at a 6.9 ppg clip.
HEAD COACH KAREN PINKOS: Karen Pinkos enters her 10th season as women's basketball coach at SNHU...a 1988 graduate of the University of New Hampshire who was an assistant at the Division I level for 16 years prior to coming to SNHU, Pinkos has guided the Penmen to six NE-10 Tournament appearances and won her 100th career game in the 2012-13 season.
THE GREYHOUNDS: Assumption won seven straight to start the season before falling to Merrimack on Saturday...junior guard Kelly Conley leads the Greyhounds in scoring with 13.4 ppg...sophomore Jo Impellizeri and senior Caitlin Ackerman are both averaging double digit point totals as well, owning 10.3 and 10.0 ppg marks respectively...Ackerman leads the team on the glass as well, putting up a 6.5 rebounds per game average...sophomore guard Allison Stoddard leads the team in assists, averaging 2.8 a game, to go along with 8.4 points per outing.
WHAT'S NEXT: SNHU hosts Saint Rose on Saturday in a game that can be seen on NESNplus...the Penmen close out the semester on Sunday, December 21 against Caldwell on the road.
NEWS AND NOTES: Doherty, Rocha and Springfield will serve as tri-captains this season, with Rocha and Springfield in the captains' role for the second straight season..SNHU will have four games heard on WGIR 610 AM this season, starting with Wednesday's game...the Penmen will also have three television contests on NESNplus, with the next game Saturday against Saint Rose.
