Box Score COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference game at Saint Michael's by a score of 10-4 Wednesday afternoon at Duffy Field. The Penmen fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Purple Knights are now 2-4 and 2-1 in the league.
Rob Murray (Marblehead, Mass.) and Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, Mass.) were the only two Penmen to record points. They each scored two goals.
Buckley put the visitors on the board in the first quarter just 2:52 in, to give SNHU a 1-0 lead. The Purple Knights answered with 1:14 remaining to tie the game on a Connor Glackin goal, but Murray scored his first tally of the game with 48 seconds left in the quarter to regain the lead.
Saint Michael's dominated the next two periods scoring five consecutive goals, and holding the Penmen scoreless.
Trailing by 6-2 entering the fourth quarter, Murray notched another score for SNHU to cut the deficit to three goals with 11:08 left to play. However, the Purple Knights answered again with back-to-back goals to take its biggest lead of the game at five. With under five minutes to play, Buckley capitalized on a man-up opportunity for his second goal of the game, but Saint Michael's capped off the game with two more goals.
Morgan Weireter (Oak Park, Calif.) saved 11 shots in net for the Penmen, while Andrew Landers recorded 10 saves for the Purple Knights.
The Penmen return to action Saturday, March 29 when they host Adelphi University in their home opener for a 1:00 p.m. game.
