HUMACAO, P.R. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team wrapped up its Puerto Rico spring break trip with an 8-1 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Wednesday. The Penmen, who won their fourth straight, improved to 10-2 overall.
SNHU held a 2-1 lead after doubles. Mitch Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) and Mike Wallace (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) were 8-2 winners at No. 1, while Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.) and Mark Dobek (Westfield, Mass.) were 8-1 winners at No. 3.
The Penmen swept all six singles matches. Mitch Dobek pulled out a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1, while Eaton had a 7-6 win in the first set at No. 5 and clinched with a 6-2 second set win.
Southern New Hampshire returns home Sunday when it faces the University of Southern Maine in a 4:30 contest at the Allard Center in Goffstown, N.H.
