BALDWINSVILLE,
N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire University
men's golf team wrapped up the regular season with a
seventh-place finish out of 14 schools at the Mike Bello
Invitational held Sunday and Monday at Timber Banks Golf
Course. The Penmen posted a 324 on Sunday, then bettered that
by eight strokes on Monday for a two-day total of 640.
Junior Jake Nutter
(Bedford, N.H.) led SNHU as he fired identical 78s to finish in a
four-way tie for 15th out of 75 players.
Scott Underhill (Bedford, N.H.) had an 80 and a 79
to finish tied for 23rd, while John
Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) posted a 78 on Monday, with his
two-day total of 162 good for a tie for 32nd.
Austin Fox
(Hooksett, N.H.) (83-81-164) finished tied for 42nd,
while Vince Kimball (Lebanon, N.H.) (83-85-168)
finished tied for 48th place to round out the Penmen
finishers.
Ranked No. 7 in the initial NCAA
East Region ranking released last week, Southern New Hampshire now
awaits a possible bid to the NCAA Atlantic-East Regional held May
5-7 in Charleston, West Virginia. Ten teams from the Atlantic
and 10 teams from the East Region are selected. The Penmen
would be making their first NCAA trip since 2009 and the fourth in
program history.
