MANCHESTER, N.H. – Ali Maloof (Norwood, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University softball team pitched a one-hitter and had the lone RBI of the game to defeat Saint Anselm by a score of 1-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play Wednesday afternoon on Penmen Field. The Penmen improve to 20-10 overall and 9-6 in the league, while the Hawks are now 16-9 and 8-5 in conference play.

It was a pitcher's duel in the first three innings as Maloof totaled five strikeouts and gave up one hit in the first inning, while Tayla Trask had three perfect innings with four putouts for the Hawks.

However, in the bottom of the third, Morgan Farmer (Kingston, N.H.) singled through the left side to break Trask's pitching spell. With two outs and Farmer on second, Maloof followed with her first triple of the season to score Farmer and put the Penmen on the board with a 1-0 lead.

The game remained hitless and scoreless, as Maloof racked up eight more strikeouts, including three in the sixth, and two more in the final inning to keep the Hawks' offense off the board. Trask recorded six more strikeouts in the game for Saint Anselm.

Maloof totaled 13 strikeouts in seven innings, while allowing just one hits and no runs, while Trask had 12 strikeouts in six innings, giving up one run and two hits.

The Penmen return to action Friday, April 18 when they host Bentley for the first game of a three-game series at 4:00 p.m. on Penmen Field.
