Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team was defeated on the road to No. 2 LeMoyne by a score of 21-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play Saturday afternoon. The Penmen fall to 5-7 overall and 5-5 in the league, while the Dolphins improve to 12-1 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, Mass.) and John Marcone (Canton, Mass.) were the lone Penmen to score a goal, while Crosby Nicholson (Andover, Mass.) recorded an assist.
LeMoyne owned the first half of play, scoring six first quarter goals as well as four second quarter goals, and holding SNHU scoreless.
Trailing 10-0 to start the second half, Buckley finally answered for the Penmen scoring on a man-up opportunity from Nicholson for his 26th goal of the season. However, the Dolphins continued to build on their lead, scoring the next six goals of the frame to take a 16-1 lead into the final quarter.
LeMoyne scored three goals in the fourth before the Penmen got on the board again when Marcone notched his first collegiate goal unassisted to give SNHU another tally. But, the Dolphins closed out the game with two more scores to take a 21-2 lead.
Morgan Weireter (Oak Park, Calif.) had eight saves in a losing effort in net for the Penmen, while Pat Brothers earned the win for the Dolphins with four saves.
The Penmen return to action Tuesday, April 22 when they host Mercy for a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m. on Larkin Field.
