KEENE, N.H.
– Led by Jake Nutter's
(Bedford, N.H.) first-place finish, the Southern New Hampshire
University men's golf team finished third out of nine schools
as it opened the season at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational at
Bretwood Golf Course's South Course Monday. The Penmen
posted a total team score of 608 in the two-round event, shooting
309 in the first round and 299 over the final 18 holes.
Bentley University took the team
title with a score of 590, while American International College
finished second with a score of 595.
Nutter tied for low score with
Brett Chatfield of Bentley, as both shot an even-par 72 in the
opening round, then posted one-under 71s in round two for a score
of 143.
Scott Underhill
(Bedford, N.H.) finished second among Penmen players, shooting 74
in round two for a two-round score of 153. Austin
Fox (Hooksett, N.H.) notched back-to-back 77s to finish at
154, while John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) went
81-77-158. Ernie Lupi (Bradford, Mass.)
rounded out the SNHU finishers with a two-round total of 169.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action September 27-28 when it hosts the Northeast-10 Conference
Championship at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, N.H.
