MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team opened its season with a 9-0 blanking of Saint Anselm College at the SNHU courts Wednesday afternoon. The Penmen are now 1-0 overall and in the league, while the Hawks are 0-2 overall and in league play.
The Penmen started four freshmen and all were double winners on the afternoon. Emerson Kelby (Oneonta, N.Y.) was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 1 singles, while Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Peter Wylie (Cedar Grove, N.J.) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 3, while Jeremy Reichentahl (Cheshire, Conn.) posted a 8-0 win at No. 6.
Seniors Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.) and Brad Malenich (Sharon, Mass.) posted wins at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Post University in an 11:00 am non-conference match.
