MANCHESTER, N.H. – Top-ranked Southern New Hampshire University jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and tacked on an insurance goal late to record a 3-1 Northeast-10 men's soccer victory over Adelphi University at Larkin Field Saturday afternoon.  The Penmen upped their record to 7-0 and 4-0 in the NE-10, while the Panthers are now 4-3 and 2-2 in league action.

The win extends SNHU's unbeaten streak to 30 games dating back to last season, while it has won 18 in a row at Larkin Field.  The Penmen have also won 25 consecutive Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament contests in a row.  Southern New Hampshire is off to its best start since 1992 when it also won its first seven contests.

Miguel Carneiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) staked the Penmen to a 1-0 lead with his goal just shy of the midway point of the first half.  Kenny Doublette (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), driving on the left side of the Panther goal, played a ball over to a streaking Carneiro who buried it for his first goal of the season.  Sebastian Stezewski (New Britain, Conn.) made it 2-0 1:30 before intermission when he took a pass over the top from Brian Grisell (Brookfield, Conn.) and found himself alone with AU keeper Sergio Reyes.  Stezewski beat Reyes for his third goal of the season.

Adelphi cut the lead in half 49 seconds into the second frame when the Panthers were awarded a penalty kick, which Diego Zuniga buried for his fifth goal of the season.  Southern New Hampshire tallied an insurance goal with 1:16 left when Doublette was fouled at the top of the penalty area.  Jonathan Lupinelli (Mont de Marsan, France) converted the penalty kick for his first goal of the season.

Dom DiMaggio (Rome, N.Y.) made a pair of saves for the Penmen, but saw his shutout streak snapped at 336:04 on the penalty kick.  Reyes played the first half in goal and made one save, before giving way to Ahmad Salamah, who stopped a pair of shots for the guests over the final 45 minutes.  Southern New Hampshire outshot Adelphi 17-7 and took seven of the game's nine corner kicks.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Tuesday night when it hosts Stonehill College in a 7:00 Northeast-10 tilt at Larkin Field.
