GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – No. 14 New York Institute of Technology recorded an 8-1 non-conference men's tennis victory over Southern New Hampshire University Friday evening at the Allard Center. The Bears, who are also ranked No. 2 in the East Region, improved to 3-1, while the Penmen, ranked No. 6 in the region, are now 2-2.
Freshmen Emerson Kelby (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Xavier Aubron (Herouville, France) picked up a point at No. 1 doubles for the Penmen, downing Nico Jubera and David Jiang 8-4. Sebastian Martinez and Evan Eaton (Winchester, Mass.) also battled at No. 2 doubles before falling 8-6.
In singles play, Aubron fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 to Julio Pulido, while Kelby fought Jiang at No. 2 before succumbing 7-5, 7-5.
The Penmen return to action on Saturday, March 14 when they welcome the University of the District of Columbia.
