BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.) claimed first place at the Mike Bello Invitational as he finished with a score of even par, shooting a two-day score of 144. Nutter went into day two with a share of the lead; with a strong second day performance Nutter claimed sole possession of the top spot by a convincing seven strokes. As a team, Southern New Hampshire men's golf finished in a tie for third place with Bentley University shooting a final two round score of 637.
The win for Nutter marks the fifth occasion during the 2014-15 season that he has claimed first place of a tournament.
Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) was the next Penmen golfer on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 22nd as he improved on his opening round 83 with a day two score of 80. John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) finished the tournament with a 165, while Ernie Lupi (Haverhill, Mass.) finished right behind Clancy with a 167. Austin Fox (Hooksett, N.H.) concluded his efforts with a second round 85, giving him a 172 on the tournament.
Southern New Hampshire finishes the regular season ranked eighth in the East Region. The team now looks towards a possible at-large berth for NCAA Regionals at Longaberger Golf Club, in Nashport, Ohio on May 4-6.
