SHOREHAM, N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team got underway at the 11th annual Dowling Memorial on Friday at Tall Grass Golf Course. The Penmen posted a day one score of 300 and currently stand fifth out of 13 teams competing.
Sophomore John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) posted a career single round best 71 on day one to lead the Penmen and currently sits tied for third on the leaderboard at even par. Clancy is two shots back of day one leader Sam Riemer of Chestnut Hill College.
Junior Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.) finished one shot back of Clancy with a 72 to sit sixth. Freshman Josh LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) finished day one with a score of 78, while senior Austin Fox (Hooksett, N.H.) is one stroke behind at 79. Ernie Lupi (Haverhill, Mass.) rounds out the Penmen competitors with a score of 81 heading into day two of tournament play.
SNHU continues play at the Dowling Invitational tomorrow morning.
