COMPLETE NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team has been selected by the Northeast-10 Conference coaches to win its third straight NE-10 regular season title, as the Penmen were picked first in the preseason coaches' poll released Monday morning. SNHU was a unanimous choice, garnering 13 of 14 first place votes (coaches do not vote for their own team) and totaling 169 points to outdistance 2014 runnerup Southern Connecticut State University, which earned the other first place nod and finished with 154 points.
Merrimack College, Adelphi University and Le Moyne College rounded out the top five.
SNHU, which is ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA Division II preseason ranking, returns a total of 17 players from last season's squad that finished 17-1-2 and captured the program's second-straight NE-10 regular season title and third-straight NE-10 tournament crown while making its seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance, the nation's longest active streak. No team has won three straight Northeast-10 regular season titles since Franklin Pierce University from 2005-07, while a fourth straight NE-10 tournament crown would be a first in the 35-year history of the conference.
Southern New Hampshire opens the 2015 season on Sunday, September 6 when the Penmen host Chestnut Hill College in a 4:00 non-conference contest at Larkin Field.
