Score: Southern New Hampshire (315-311-626), T-1st/16
Buoyed by a third-place finish by freshman Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine), the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished tied for first out of 16 teams at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational that wrapped up Saturday.
The Penmen posted a score of 311 on day two and a two-day total of 626 to finish tied with the host Dolphins, who posted a tourney-low 303 on Saturday. Post University (628), Mercyhurst University (630) and Bentley University (641) rounded out the top five.
Dugas followed up his 77 on Friday with a three-over 75 on Saturday to finish in a four-way tie for third at 152, three strokes back of leaders Blaze Hogan of Mercyhurst and Jose Luis Martinez of Post.
Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.) finished one shot back of Dugas for the tournament to place tied for seventh, while Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) had a two-day total of 160 to place tied for 15th overall. Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.) (162) and John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) (172) rounded out the Penmen finishers, with Clancy improving 10 strokes to post an 81 on Saturday.
Notes:
- SNHU finished first in a tournament for the first time since last October's Saint Rose Fall Shootout.
- Scoring conditions were better for the second round, with today's average round of 82.35 three strokes better than yesterday.
