NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Rennie helped the Penmen to an undefeated week with 16 saves in a pair of overtime wins. She opened the week with a three-save shutout of Saint Michael's College, as Southern New Hampshire topped the Purple Knights, 1-0. Saturday saw Rennie register 13 saves in a 3-2 win over Merrimack College, which marked the Penmen's third consecutive victory and fifth in six games. For the week, she generated a .889 save-percentage and a 0.91 goals-against average in 153:06 of action.
Through 13 games this season, Rennie is 7-5 with a 1.32 goals-against average and a .833 save-percentage. She currently ranks third in the Northeast-10 in save percentage, fourth in total saves (85), fifth in shutouts (3) and sixth in goals-against average.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 19) when it heads to Franklin Pierce University for a Northeast-10 tilt at 4 p.m.
