Score: Southern New Hampshire University – 308 (1st/9)
Senior John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) tied for second, overall, with a 75 in the opening round Sunday as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team sits in first place at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at the Captains Course in Brewster, Mass.
Junior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) is tied for fourth with a 76, while freshman Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) is tied for ninth with a 78.
Freshman Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 79 that has him tied for 12th.
Sophomore Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) did not factor in the team score after totaling an 88.
Notes:
-Southern New Hampshire, which is coming off its first victory of the year last Monday at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational, holds a five-stroke lead on Franklin Pierce University, as well as a six-shot advantage on both the College of Saint Rose and Saint Anselm College.
-The Penmen won the NEIGA Championship last season and finished runner-up two years ago.
-Saint Anselm's Tad Link leads the individual field with a 1-over 73.
-The NEIGA Championship is comprised of nine institutions and 45 student-athletes.
