Men's Golf Captures Second Consecutive NEIGA Championship

Freshman Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) carded a 2-over 74 to grab a share of individual medalist honors as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team claimed its second straight New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at the Captains Course in Brewster, Mass., on Monday.

Paradis was four shots better than his opening round Sunday as he totaled a two-day score of 152 to finish in a three-way tie for first place. 

Junior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) shot a 77 in the final round to finish tied for fourth with a 153.

Freshman Drew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) shaved off a stroke from Sunday's round for a 78 that gave him a 157, which tied him for 12th

Sophomore Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) and senior John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) both turned in a 79. Dugas finished with a 167, while Clancy tied for eighth with a 154.

Notes:
-Southern New Hampshire collects its second tournament win of the fall after coming away victorious at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational last Monday.
-The Penmen, who won the NEIGA Championship last season after finishing runner-up two years ago, also featured the best score of all NEIGA tournaments across the three divisions. Babson College was the closest competitor as it totaled a 617 to win the DIII tournament.
-SNHU defeated runner-up Saint Anselm College by nine strokes and third-place Bentley University by 11 strokes.
-Paradis finished in a tie for the top spot with Assumption College's A.J. Cooney and Saint Anselm's Stephen Hunt.
-The NEIGA Championship was comprised of nine institutions and 45 student-athletes.
