Senior Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) paced four scorers in double figures with a game-high 19 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to Wednesday evening's 73-61 victory against Stonehill College at Merkert Gymnasium.
Ryan was an efficient 7 of 10 from the floor, including 1 of 1 from long range, and a perfect 4 of 4 at the line, while grabbing six rebounds and handing out a pair of assists. Sophomore Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) posted 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-2 3-FG), eight boards and two steals, with junior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) netting a season-high 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-7 3-FG) to go along with three rebounds and two assists. Junior Olivia Conrad (Hanover, Mass.) was also in double figures with a season-best 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 FT), five rebounds and two assists.
Samantha Hyslip and Courtney Walsh each scored 16 points for the Skyhawks.
Stonehill held an 11-7 advantage midway through the opening quarter when Stinson drained a 3-pointer that sparked a 10-2 run to turn a four-point deficit into a four-point lead for the Penmen at 17-13 with 2:11 on the clock. The Skyhawks would forge a tie over a minute later before freshman Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) knocked down a 3 with 36 seconds left to give Southern New Hampshire a 21-18 edge heading to the second.
Baskets by Lorenzen and Conrad to begin the second stanza ran the lead to seven before a Hyslip jumper and Walsh trifecta trimmed the Stonehill deficit to just a pair at 27-25 under four minutes in. The Skyhawks would again tie it right before the half, but a Ryan layup with 15 seconds to go sent the Penmen to the locker room with a 36-34 lead.
The margin was three just over a minute into the second half when a Lorenzen bucket and Stinson triple ran the lead to eight at 44-36 with 8:14 remaining in the third quarter. With the gap still at eight just under seven minutes later, another Stinson 3-pointer and Ryan layup extended the Southern New Hampshire advantage to 57-44 heading to the final frame.
The SNHU lead never dipped below nine in the fourth quarter, with a pair of Ryan free throws growing the margin to a game-high 14 at 73-59 with just under a minute to play.
Sophomore Brianna Camara (Fall River, Mass.) recorded six points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3-FG) and matched career highs with eight rebounds and seven assists. Terry chimed in with five points.
Notes:
-The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Southern New Hampshire, which is still without two of its top players, while it also halted a three-game winning streak for the Skyhawks.

-The Penmen won the glass (40-36) and the paint (35-24), in addition to featuring a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (16/14-13/13).
