Burke Hazard Added to Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer head coach Josh Taylor announced recently that Burke Hazard has joined his staff as an assistant coach. Hazard replaces Khano Smith, who departed in December for an assistant coaching position the with Orlando City organization of Major League Soccer.

"With Khano Smith moving onto the Orlando City organization, it gave me a great opportunity to build upon my staff and add a quality individual," Taylor said. "My goal was to bring in somebody with experience in the college game and an established network. Burke provides experience at the junior college level, has coached within an elite club in Rhode Island and was recently a head coach at Lasell College. Head coaching experience is extremely valuable and will aid in the transition to SNHU.

"Burke has great energy and seemed a natural fit throughout the interview process. He also possesses a great personality that will be able to relate and connect with the players. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful staff in place with Adam Perron and Keegan Campbell and I look forward to integrating Burke into our environment."

Hazard arrives at SNHU following a two-year stint as the head coach at Lasell College in Newton, Mass., where he guided the Lasers to a 9-9 record and a spot in the GNAC semifinals during his first season in 2014.

Hazard, who has also worked as a New England Revolution Academy staff coach since 2015, spent 2013 as an assistant coach at Dean College in Franklin, Mass. While at Dean, Hazard also served as the head coach of the Bayside FC Bolts U16 squad.

Before heading to Dean, Hazard took over as the boys' varsity coach at Belfast (Maine) Area High School in 201, worked as a club coach for Seacoast United and was also a member of the Maine U17 Olympic Development staff.

Hazard began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, the University of Southern Maine, in 2010.

After beginning his college career at Randolph Macon College, Hazard returned closer to home, playing his final three years at USM, where he captured a Little East Conference title and earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
