BOX SCORE

When and Where: March 19, 2016 – Manchester, N.H. (Larkin Field)
Score: No. 6 Adelphi University 21, Southern New Hampshire University 9
Records: Adelphi 6-1 (2-0 Northeast-10), SNHU 1-3 (0-2 Northeast-10)

Junior Keifer Heckman (Peabody, Mass.) tied a career-high with four goals, but a five-point effort from Salvatore Tuttle buoyed the sixth-ranked Adelphi University men's lacrosse team to a 21-8, Northeast-10 Conference victory against Southern New Hampshire University at Larkin Field on Saturday.

Heckman led the Penmen offense with four tallies while senior Cameron Joyce (Braintree, Mass.) collected his third hat trick in four games and classmate Eric Johnson (West Suffield, Conn.) also found the back of the net.

Three different Panthers registered at least three goals on Saturday, as Tuttle scored three and handed out a pair of assists, Cory Stavis added four and Gordon Purdie netted three in the triumph.

Heckman staked Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 lead 51 seconds into the contest on his second marker of the season, before Adelphi put together a 9-0 run over the final 13:10 of the first quarter and opening 12:42 of the second to grab a 9-1 advantage. Tuttle accumulated three points during the 25:52 stretch on a goal and two assists, while Purdie, Stavis and Tom Nuckel each had a pair of goals. Joyce closed the gap to seven with his 10th of the year with 2:18 remaining before intermission, but a Michael Osmundsen strike less than a minute later and Tuttle's second of the afternoon gave the visitors an 11-2 edge at the half.

Tuttle completed his hat trick at 1:38 of the third before Purdie followed with his third of the contest to make it 13-2 with 6:17 to go in the stanza. The Penmen answered less than 90 seconds later when Joyce fired home an unassisted tally at 10:03, and the hosts trimmed the deficit to single digits when Johnson cashed in on a feed from junior Daniel Trainor (Billerica, Mass.) with just under four minutes remaining in the quarter.

It would be as close as Southern New Hampshire would come, however, as Adelphi outscored the Penmen by an 8-4 margin over the final 15 minutes of play. After Stavis was setup by Nuckel at 1:33, Joyce responded with his third of the day and 12th of the season two minutes later. It took just seven seconds for the Panthers to regain a 10-goal cushion before back-to-back goals by Stavis and Chris Racalbuto made it 17-5 with 9:08 left in regulation. Heckman sandwiched his second and third goals around an Adelphi strike to cut the deficit back to 18-7 midway through the fourth, but three-straight scores from the visitors put the game out of reach. Heckman's fourth of the game and fifth of the season came as the buzzer sounded and provided the game's final score.

Penmen sophomore Michael Brawley (Tewksbury, Mass.) stopped 12 shots in the setback, while John McGrath, Brendan McDougal and Nicholas Badaracco combined to equal that total for the Panthers.

Notes:
- Adelphi was successful in 25-of-31 trips to the faceoff X on Saturday, and held a 59-39 advantage in shots. The Panthers put 33 of their shots on cage, while Southern New Hampshire was on target with 20 of its shots.
- Neither side was able to convert on an extra-man opportunity (SNHU 0-for-3, Adelphi 0-for-2), but both teams fared better than 89-percent on their clears (SNHU 16-for-17, Adelphi 17-for-19).
- The Penmen won the turnover battle, committing 10 and causing five compared to the Panthers' 12 and three forced.

What's Next:
Southern New Hampshire continues Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday (March 26) when it heads to second-ranked Le Moyne College (5-0, 1-0 NE-10) for a noon faceoff against the Dolphins.
