Freshman Erin Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) collected three hits and drove in two runs, and Southern New Hampshire University posted its third-straight win with a 4-2 triumph over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference softball action at Marois Field.

Garczynski (3-for-4) was one of five Penmen to turn in multi-hit afternoons, as senior Mo Hannan (Scarborough, Maine) went 2-for-4, sophomore Brittany Perdigao (Stoughton, Mass.) finished 2-for-3, junior Erin Morrissey (Commack, N.Y.) had two hits in four trips and classmate Jessica Torsiello (Morris Plains, N.J.) turned in a 2-for-4 day.

Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top half of the first. Hannan and Perdigao led off the contest with back-to-back base hits, and Garczynski played the game's first run with an RBI single through the left side. After an infield hit by Morrissey loaded the bases with one away, Torsiello doubled the Penmen advantage with a run-scoring base knock to left.

The Greyhounds cut the Penmen edge in half in the second before evening the score at two in the fourth. Stephanie Menard singled to right with one out in the second inning before coming around to score on a Christina Caira base hit two batters later. Ashley Abad led off the fourth with a single, and after moving up to second on a sacrifice bunt, she scored on Menard's second hit of the game.

The game would not remain tied for long, however, as Garczynski drove in the go-ahead run in the top half of the fifth and sophomore Katie Horiuchi (Livingston, N.J.) added an insurance run in the sixth. Senior Katie Caruso (Newton, Mass.) tripled to the gap in left center to lead off the frame, and Garczynski followed with a base hit up the middle to make it 3-2. Horiuchi capped the scoring when she launched a solo shot to left for her second home run of the season.

Sophomore Sarah Lavallee (Candia, N.H.) upped her record to 11-3 after striking out six and scattering nine hits in a complete-game effort. 

Notes:
- The Penmen out hit Assumption by a 13-9 margin, and rapped out at least 13 hits against the Greyhounds for the third time this season.
- Lavallee allowed two earned runs on Thursday, and has now given up two earned runs or fewer in 12 starts this season.

What's Next:
Southern New Hampshire returns to the diamond on Saturday when it heads to Stonehill College (17-13, 13-5 NE-10) for a twinbill beginning at noon. The Penmen close out their regular season series with the Skyhawks on Sunday at noon.
