MEN'S COLLEGE 10,000M RUN RESULTS | WOMEN'S COLLEGE JAVELIN THROW CHALLENGE RESULTS
PHILADELPHIA – Junior Sahara Brown (Center Barnstead, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team joined sophomore Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) and junior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain) at the 121st Penn Relays at Franklin Field from April 28 through April 30, and each of the three competing student-athletes turned in top-25 performances in their respective events.
Hernando-Angulo headlined the trio after finishing No. 11 in the College Men's 10,000-meter championship, while McLaren checked in at No. 20 in the 10K. Brown, who took part in the College Women's Javelin Throw Challenge, rounded out the Penmen contingent by placing 25th.
Hernando-Angulo crossed the finish line in 30:19.70, which put him two seconds outside the top-10. He was the top NCAA Division II finisher in the event, which was captured by Providence College's Liam Hillery in 29:22.38. McLaren turned in an official time of 30:53.91 and outpaced a number of Division I competitors in the process.
Brown fired the javelin a distance of 36.71 meters to post the fourth-farthest toss of any Division II participant. Assumption College's Megan Perrin was the only Northeast-10 Conference student-athlete to finish ahead of Brown, and the overall crown went to Sarah Stanley of Penn State University, whose throw went 44.86 meters.
Brown and the Southern New Hampshire University women's track and field team continue their inaugural season on Sunday (May 1) when they head to Regis College for the Pride Classic Invitational.
