RESULTS

When and Where: May 17, 2016 – Denver, Colo. (Green Valley Ranch Golf Club – Par 72)
Score: Southern New Hampshire University (297) 13th/20

Freshman Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a 1-under 71 to lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team to a 13th-place finish Tuesday at the opening round of the NCAA National Championship, hosted by Metro State University of Denver at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

The Penmen, who totaled a 297, are just six strokes back of Thursday's eighth-place cut line. Saint Leo University leads after day one with a 278.

Paradis bogeyed three times on the front nine, but offset one of those with a birdie, and then birdied three holes on a bogey-free back nine. Paradis' 71 placed him in a tie for 17th overall.

Senior Jake Nutter (Bedford, N.H.) shot 2-under on the front nine, but bogeyed four times on the back nine to finish in a tie for 35th place with a 1-over 73.

Freshman Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) carded a 3-over 75 as he tied for 57th, while junior John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) rounded out the Penmen scorers by placing in a tie for 88th with a 78.

Notes:
- Southern New Hampshire is making its first appearance ever at the NCAA National Championship.
- Sophomore Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) finished in a tie for 101st with an 81.
- If the Penmen were to remain 13th after Thursday's third round, it would be the highest finish for a New England team at the NCAA National Championship since Bryant University placed 13th in 2004.
- The NCAA National Championship is comprised of 108 student-athletes from 28 different institutions. The 20 schools competing as a team advanced from four regional sites. The top eight after the first three rounds will move on to match play.

What's Next:
The Penmen will tee off at the second round of the NCAA National Championship on Wednesday, May 18 at 12:55 p.m.
