Freshman Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) fired a career-best 66 to grab a share of the day-one lead as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished second after Sunday's round of the Franklin Pierce University Invitational at Brentwood Golf Course.
Despite shooting 1-under par as a team, the Penmen placed second as Saint Thomas Aquinas College totaled a 12-under 276.
Paradis tied Saint Thomas Aquinas' Michael Miranda for the top spot with his 6-under 66.
Sophomore Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) carded an even-par 72 as he finished in a tie for 10th.
Junior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) is tied for 17th following his 2-over 74, while sophomore Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.) is in a tie for 19th with a 3-over 75.
Notes:
-Freshman Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) also tied for 19th with a 75, but did not factor in the team score.
-The 287 is Southern New Hampshire's lowest score since shooting 285 at the second round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on May 3.
-The Franklin Pierce Invitational is comprised of 12 institutions and 60 student-athletes.
