Score: Southern New Hampshire University – 291 (T-2^nd/13)

Sophomore Gavin Dugas (Pittsfield, Maine) fired a 3-under 69 Monday to tie for third place and help the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team earn a share of second place after the first round of the Quechee Division II Challenge at the Quechee Golf Club. 

Playing the Lakeland Course on day one, the Penmen tied with Bentley University, just four shots back of first-place Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

Freshmen Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) and Garret Olivar (Manchester, N.H.) both carded 1-over 73s to tie for 12^th, while junior Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.) shot a 76 and sits in a tie for 24^th. 

Senior John Clancy (Sandwich, Mass.) is tied for 30^th overall with a 77, but did not factor in the scoring.

The Penmen also had six players compete as individuals, with freshman Andrew Kane (Scarborough, Maine) leading way with an even-par 72 that has him tied for seventh. Sophomore Etienne Bourgoin (Abington, Mass.) also submitted a solid opening round with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 17^th. 

Junior Ben Scott (Lexington, Mass.) and sophomore Austin Baker (Litchfield, N.H.) are tied for 64^th and 67^th, respectively, after shooting an 83 and 84.

Sophomore Tyler Cole (Bow, N.H.) is 71^st with an 86 and freshman James Trainor (Hudson, Mass.) shot a 94 to tie for 76^th. 

Notes:
-Saint Thomas' Kevin Gately and Wilmington (Del). University's Miguel Siercke sit atop the field after carding 4-under 68s.
- Wilmington (Del.) and the SNHU "B" team competed as individuals and therefore do not factor into the team scoring.
-The Quechee Division II Challenge, hosted by SNHU, is comprised of 14 institutions and 78 student-athletes.
