MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore Matt Paradis (Hooksett, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team was crowned the New Hampshire Golf Association (NHGA) Player of the Year recently, while head coach Matt Arvanitis earned New Hampshire PGA Player of the Year honors.
Paradis, who garners the honor for the second straight year and can join impressive company with one more, finished runner-up at both the NH State Amateur Championship and NHGA Players Invitational, while placing fourth at both the Stroke Play Championship and New England Amateur Championship. He also captured the Four-Ball Championship with teammate Joshua LaCasse (Bow, N.H.).
Arvanitis, meanwhile, totaled up 168.25 points to stand atop the New Hampshire Chapter Player of the Year standings in the New England PGA for the fifth time. Arvanitis won a trio of New Hampshire PGA events this season, while finishing runner-up at the New Hampshire PGA Championship and seventh at the New Hampshire Open Championship.
The Penmen wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 30-31 at the McDonough Cup, hosted by Rollins College, at the Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
